Nepal Himalayan Bike Ride – Our Typical Riding Day:
Breakfast is ready at 07:00, where we have a communal breakfast and discuss the day’s plan. Normally, our daily riding begins at around 09:00-09:30hrs, after breakfast and packing is over.  However, it may slightly be adjusted given consideration to the terrain, climatic and riding conditions of the day.  We plan to have clients at the next accommodation by 15:00-16:00hrs. This allows time for bike maintenance, a little extra exploration of the locale on your own, settling into the hotel and relax before dinner. During the day our lunch break is approx. one hour at a scenic spot available along the route.

Detailed Itinerary:

DAY 1: KATHMANDU TO NGADI VIA BESI SAHAR
Today after breakfast drive from Kathmandu – BesiSahar by a van.  From here we assemble our bike and after a brief rest ride to NGADI.

Your team will be waiting you at the town of BesiSahar (760m), which will serve as the starting point for a point of our journey.  From here we enter the beautiful and quite countryside of Nepal. We will have lunch, tune our bikes and then ride to Ngadi. We will be riding on a Jeep track till Bhulbhule (840m) then we switch to the trekking trail route wherein we shall enjoy riding some single tracks through the woods and through suspension bridges. Overnight at Hotel (L/D).

DAY 2: NGADI TO JAGAT VIA SHYANGE

We leave behind this tiny cozy settlement riding on a foot trail until we approach a jeep track after crossing ‘Ngadi River’ and the epic ‘Marshyangdi River’. We keep following this winding jeep route of gradual uphill and gradual slope down route to a beautiful waterfall spot at Shyange. Relax, rest our legs and enjoy lunch in a comfortable restaurant here. Further, after couple of hours’ ride from here we will reach our overnight destination, ‘Jagat’. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 3: JAGAT TO TAL VIA CHAMJE

We follow the route, which is fairly ride-able till Chamje. Here in a little village we will have lunch break, you will enjoy observing a crowd of people living on this small hill forest. The journey then continues with single-track route through stairways, suspension bridges into further more serene woods. Almost all the way push and carry bike till ‘Tal’. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 4: TAL TO TIMANG BESI VIA DHARAPANI, BAGARCHAAP, DANEQUE

Journey time: Approximately 6 hours

Today, we leave early morning, as we will be covering quite a long distance today. Start riding for several minutes on a ride able path then again the route challenges us with its uphill rocky route parts followed by uphill trekking trails. We will be catching an hour ride on a jeep road leading till Daneque. We will rest our legs at ‘Bagarchaap’, on a lunch break. Within half an hour time we will have reached ‘Daneque’.  We leave behind this beautiful village tracing along the jungle single-track hiking route uphill to ‘TimangBesi’ to have a comfortable overnight stay. DAY 5: TIMANG BESI TO DHUKUR POKHARI VIA CHAME, THALEKU, BHRATANG

After a perfect rest at this small but beautiful locality, we proceed with our ride through gradual uphill route followed by downhill trail to ride through ‘Thanchok’ a wonderful village that offers the glimpses of the cultural heritage of the places here and above this altitude. We will pass alongside apple farmland, continue with uphill route with some push and carries, and ride through few more localities to reach ‘Bhratang’ for lunch. After a refreshing lunch we continue our ride towards DhukurePokhari on a route mostly ride able. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 6: DHUKUR POKHARI TO MANANG VIA LOWER PISANG, HUMDE, BHRAGA

We will enjoy the scenic view of Annapurna II from DhukurPokhari, if weather favors. This tiny small location itself possesses immense natural beauty with it. A beautiful small lake could be seen a few minute walk from here. We can take evening or morning walk around here. Leave towards ‘Manang’ after 9 am, the route is more ride able through a sparse jungle which leads us towards a plain land surrounded by sandy hills with a Gangapurna river flowing opposite direction aside our route. We will pass through several beautiful villages before we reach ‘Manang’. We will have stopover for lunch at ‘Humde’, which is an important village comprising domestic airplane strip. Enjoy the ride able route leading till Manang. We will have some time in the evening to check around this beautiful settlement, rich in its cultural heritage. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 7: MANANG TO GHUNSANG VIA TANGI MANANG (Rest day.  Only half an hour ride).

Altitude: 3900m

Journey time: Approximately 1 hour

We will have plenty of time this whole day to check around Manang, Visit the Rescue Association, check in Museum, about an hour hike up to the view point, visit monastery and so on. We take this day as a rest day but in the evening we shall advance 360m further in a small cozy location. It will be approximately an hour time with 95% push and carry to reach Ghunsang. We will pass through TangiManang, which is the first hometown of most of the inhabitants living below or above this village.  O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 8: GHUNSANG TO LETDER VIA YAK KHARKA

We will still be going through an acclimatization phase. We leave ‘Gunsang’ after around 10 am, stopover at Yak Kharka for lunch and rest for few hours. We will take a slow easy ride/ push from Ghunsang to Letder. We will be riding through a small narrow path on this bare hill of only few shrubs and bushes we see around. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 9: LETDER TO THORONG PHEDI

THORONG PHEDI
Altitude: 4450m

Journey time: Approx2 hours
250m ascend
Ride able: 40%

We will have reached ThorongPhedi around the noon. The route is basically a narrow walking trail made on the mid of this slope hill. The route goes downhill to cross the Thorong River bridge and climb up the Thorong hillside through ‘Deaurali’ teashop.We will pass through a landslide area on which we push for about 20 minutes and then we arrive at ‘Thorongphedi’. Take a refreshing lunch and if interested we can hike up for an hour time to high camp and return back. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)

DAY 10:THORONG PHEDI TO KAGBENI VIA THORONG LA PASS

Altitude: 2800m

Journey time: Approximately 8 hours

Very early before dawn at around 5 am we leave ThorangPhedi to avoid the midday head wind at the pass. Climb 966m high to reach the Thorong La pass (5416m). It is 100% push/carry all the way up to the pass. An hour walk from ThorongPhedi to High camp on a very steep uphill will be a challenging one. The route from here takes a gradual climb. We will be on the top after approximately 4 hours time from ThorongPhedi. The trail from the Thorong-La is steep downhill on a loose rock hill. We will be descending 1650m down towards Kagbeni. For lunch stopover at Muktinath a popular destination for Hindus to pay homage for lord Vishnu in the Muktinath Temple. Approximately 1 and half hours downhill Jeep track route from Muktinath will lead us to Kagbeni, a popular destination for tourist and local peoples as well. O/N Tea House (B/L/D)
DAY 11: KAGBENI TO KALOPANI VIA JOMSOM, MARPHA

KALOPANI

Altitude: 2530m

Journey time: Approximately 5 hours

Ride the jeep track downhill road towards ‘Kalopani’. We will take rest a while at Jomsom, a popular market town facilitate with an airport for domestic plane flights to Pokhara. Keep descending through a beautiful village ‘Marpha’, wherein we shall stop over for delicious lunch prepared by Thakali hand. We will have plenty of time to hike the nearby Buddhist monastery and observe its beauty along with the scenery of overall village seen from the Monastery terrace.  In about 2 hours ride from here we will reach ‘Kalopani’ for a pleasant overnight stay in a beautiful Guesthouse. DAY 12: KALOPANI TO TATOPANI VIA T.T. LAKE

Journey time: Approximately 6 hours

Kalopani offers magnificent view of Himalayan Ranges.  Mount. Dhaulaghiri peak, Ice fall Peak, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri Peak and Annapurna Peak are the majestic ranges we can observe from Kalopani. Enjoy the early morning view from the Guest house. A refreshing breakfast at 8 AM, we ride on a downhill jeep track to Tatopani via ‘Ghasa’ and enjoy ride through many beautiful villages. A beautiful waterfall named ‘RupcheChahara’ is a major attraction on the way after ‘Ghasa’. We will spend an hour admiring its beauty, taking pictures and having tea/coffee. We will reach to our much-awaited destination, ‘Tatopani’ at around 4 pm. The village is well known for its hot spring so it earns the name TatoPani, which literally means hot water. DAY 13: TATOPANI TO BENI OR MALDHUNGA AND TRANSFER TO POKHARA

Today after breakfast we emerge on our last leg of cycling and ride uptoBeni or Maldhunga depending on the road condition.  Upon arrival at Beni, we will be met by our van and transfer to Pokhara.  Check in to a hotel and rest.  Later in the evening we browse through the bustling lake side area and settle at a nice restaurant to enjoy and share our stories and experiences over cool beer and a sumptuous dinner. DAY 14: DRIVE BACK TO KATHMANDU

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive back to Kathmandu. (B)
